VACUUM FURNACE INSTALLATION FOR THE AEROSPACE INDUSTRY

Merritts carried out the installation works of a 25Te vacuum furnace for a leading manufacturer in the aerospace industry. Throughout this 8-week project, works included:

• Installation of floor plates to ensure adequate protection from heavy lift plant.
• Offloading, specialist rigging and positioning of furnace sections.
• Electrical and mechanical connections.
• The project was supported by a full-time project manager and health & safety advisor.

RELOCATION OF INJECTION MOULDING MACHINERY TO A NEW FACILITY

Merritts were appointed by a leading company specialising in the design, development, and manufacture of thermoplastic piping systems for civils and infrastructure projects.

Our role included relocating 17 injection moulding machines (with a max individual machine weight of 60Te) plus 34 mould tools between facilities that were located 120 miles apart.

Works were carried out over a 3-month period and included mechanical dismantling at the existing location and rebuilding at the new location.

THE OFFLOADING AND INSTALLATION OF NEW PACKAGING MACHINERY

Merritts were approached to provide lifting equipment and an installation team to offload and install new packaging manufacturing machinery at a customer’s new facility. The machinery included rotary die cutters, corrugating machinery, and conveying equipment.

This project included:

• A dedicated project manager for the duration of the works.
• Provision of comprehensive health & safety documentation.
• Organisation of trackway installation.
• Provision of lifting equipment and rigging services to safely offload machinery from delivery transport.
• De-crating and unpacking of the machinery.
• Skating of machinery into position.
• Building of machinery.
• Assist OEM engineers with commissioning of the machinery.
• Assisting with the installation of services steelwork.
• Weekend working to ensure the project remained on track.

The project was carried out over a 13 week period.

MECHANICAL DISMANTLING OF MANUFACTURING LINES

A 10-week project, for a world leading manufacturer of conveyor belting for mining and industrial applications.

Our works involved the mechanical dismantling of two complete manufacturing lines, including the removal of the heavy machinery and transportation to a suitable recycling facility.

FACTORY RELOCATION OF 15 ENGEL INJECTION MOULDING MACHINES

Over a two month period, Merritts provided our factory relocation services to a plastic product manufacturer which specialised in furniture and outside storage systems.

In total, 15 ENGEL injection moulding machines were dismantled, relocated to a new site located 250 miles apart, reassembled and positioned.

PRINT MACHINERY IMPORT AND TRANSPORTATION

Merritts were appointed by a Japanese press manufacturer to help import specialist printing presses into the UK.

Our role for the print machinery imports involved:

• Arrangement of customs clearance, and delivery of four trailers carrying printing press equipment into the UK.
• Offloading of containers from transport
• Removal of machinery from the containers
• Positioning of machinery as required by the customer.
• Assisting the OEM engineers with the assembly of the machinery.
• Removal of waste packaging.

Works were completed over a 3 week period.

A NUMBER OF DELIVERIES AND INSTALLATIONS FOR A MAJOR MANUFACTURER OF PRECISION METAL CUTTING AND BENDING MACHINERY

A regular customer of Merritts, this leading company of metal cutting machinery required our services to aid them with the storage, delivery, and installation of their machinery throughout the whole of the UK.

Projects involved:

• Receiving heavy machinery and entering into our secure storage facility.
• Loading machinery onto Merritts covered transport and delivery to their customer.
• Offloading of machinery using Versa-Lift trucks.
• De-crating of machinery and delivery into the customer’s facility on machinery moving skates.
• Positioning of machinery as required.
• Assist manufacturer’s engineers with the commissioning of the machinery.
• Disposal of packaging and redundant machinery where required.

As an added benefit, Merritts carried out this work out of hours or and sometimes during the weekend working to ensure ongoing production schedules were not affected.

UNLOADING, LIFTING AND FINAL POSITIONING OF NEW MACHINERY

A company that develops products for heating, cooling, and hot water, appointed Merritts to provide on-site assistance to help carry out the unloading, lifting and final positioning of new manufacturing machinery at a factory based in Derby.

Works included:

• Offload machinery from transport.
• Unpack the machinery plus dispose of the waste material.
• Position machinery as required in the facility.
• Assist OEM engineers with final commissioning of the machinery.

Works were carried out over a 12-week period.
