Understanding Customers – Heavy Machinery Moving is our DNA

One of the most important aspects of our marketing strategy and a regular discussion topic, especially when we are writing our news and advice articles, is to ensure we understand the profile of companies that need a heavy matching moving service or embarking on a factory relocation project.

The projects we complete are generally carried out on behalf of:

However, we are also mindful there are always companies who have their own specific reasons for appointing us and rely on us to uphold their professional reputation:

The Business Owner

The business owner has spent years building internal teams and supply chain relationships they trust. As a 4th generation family business with a 95+ year history, moving heavy machinery is in our DNA. We have built the trust of many business owners who now see us as their preferred partner because we have an inherent desire to ensure the customer receives a superior service; we will go out of our way to ensure the project is completed correctly.

The Facilities Manager & Procurement Team

The installation of a new machine or a removal of an existing machine will be just one of the projects on the procurement or facilities manager’s to do list. We generally find that they appreciate the fact that when they appoint Merritts, their project will be overseen at all times by a Director. They may be in charge of the purse strings and ultimately responsible for the project, but we understand their need for a professional service – after all, it is their reputation that is on the line. We always provide detailed supporting documentation outlining the process and timescales, so they can plan accordingly. On all machine moving projects we will prepare site specific health & safety risk assessments and lifting plans as part of our commitment to providing a bespoke health and safety package for each customer.

The Engineers

Coordinating and managing a heavy machine move project can be a huge strain on an engineer’s time and resources. Merritts ensure this strain is lifted by executing precision planning for every project, allowing the engineer to continue doing their day to day job. All Merritts personnel receive regular ongoing training and all plant and equipment is regularly inspected and certificated. Knowing that all health and safety rules and regulations will be adhered to provides the engineer with peace of mind that the project will be completed safely, on time, and without incident.

The Logistics Manager

The logistics manager is in charge of moving machinery and equipment from A to B as efficiently as possible. Issues can arise when delays are created at the delivery site, meaning that the only option is an offsite interim storage solution. As well as offering varied transport options, including flat and covered trailers, Merritts can provide logistics managers with numerous storage options at our secure warehouse facilities. A number of our clients reserve a holding area within our storage facility on an ongoing basis, to use as and when required. Where machinery moving is required, we have an extensive variety of heavy lifting equipment, including hydraulic gantries, lorry mounted cranes, and  Versa-Lift trucks which are capable of lifting and carrying machinery up to 36 Tonnnes. We are able to provide free site visits within the UK, operate outside of standard working hours, and achieve fast response times, including the swift submission of all required health and safety documentation before commencement of works.

Can we help on your next heavy machinery moving project?

As you can tell, we invest time to get to know our customers in order to build trusted long term partnerships. If you need to install a new machine, are planning production line changes or a factory relocation and need a heavy machinery moving service you can trust, please get in touch to learn more about how we can help provide transportation, installation, and industrial storage solutions.
