Heavy Machinery Moving Projects – February Focus

Merritts regularly carry out over 100 projects per month, providing specialist machinery moving, lifting, installation and storage services to the world’s leading new machinery dealers, re-sellers and product manufacturers. Here is an overview of some of the projects we carried out during March.

Internal Movement of CNC Machinery

STORAGE, DELIVERY AND INSTALLATION OF CUTTING-EDGE BLADE COATING MACHINERY.

This month Merritts began the installation of blade coating machinery as part of a heavy machinery moving project for a client involved in aerospace manufacturing.

Our heavy machinery moving works on this project included:

  • Initially, we arranged transport of the heavy machinery using 20 flatbed trailers to our industrial storage warehouse where they were offloaded and stored for approx. 4 weeks.
  • Installation of floor plates at the installation site to ensure adequate protection from heavy lift plant.
  • Once the manufacturing plant was ready for heavy machinery install we transported the machines to site and offloaded ready for transfer inside.
  • Rigging, lifting and positioning of the machine parts and the full mechanical, electrical and pipework installation through to commissioning.
  • This project is supported by a full time project manager and health & safety advisor.

The specialist equipment used for this project included:

  • Enerpac Super-Lift hydraulic gantry with 125Te capacity
  • Versa-Lift 60/80 with 36Te lift and carry capacity
  • Versa-Lift 40/60 with 27Te lift and carry capacity
  • 7Te fork lift trucks
  • Powered access equipment
  • Specialist tackle vans
  • Flatbed trailer and lorries

COLLECTION AND DELIVERY OF A DMG MORI CNC MACHINE

FOR ONE OF THE LARGEST INDUSTRIAL MANUFACTURING COMPANIES IN EUROPE

One of Europe’s largest industrial manufacturing companies also got in touch with us this month to help them collect and provide temporary industrial storage for a DMG Mori CNC machine. We then also arranged onward delivery and install at the customers’ facility in Cambridge.

INSTALLATION OF STRECTCH WRAPPING MACHINE

FOR A MACHINERY MANUFACTURER IN THE WASTE & RECYCLING INDUSTRY

This project involved working on behalf off a machinery manufacturer in the waste and recycling industry. Our heavy machinery moving services involved us offloading a stretch wrapping machine from transport and positioning at a customer site in Deeside.

The main machine and ancillaries were offloaded with a 7Te rated forklift truck and transported into the customer’s facility. Machinery was unpacked and Merritts assisted the manufacturer’s engineers to assemble the machine. The machine was then positioned accordingly and bolted down to the floor. Merritts safely disposed of all packaging materials.

These are just a few examples of the work we completed this month and naturally we were delighted receive such great feedback from a satisfied customer.

“I am writing to express my deep appreciation for the assistance from your team to install our new equipment. Their professionalism, knowledge, leadership and helpfulness was pleasantly unusual compared to other lifting contractors I have worked with previously.

They showed extensive knowledge in lifting, health and safety and machine operating ability and worked closely with myself and my team. I found their presence reassuring in the fact that the seemingly complicated task we had ahead was going to be executed in a professional and timely manner.

I would like to give special thanks to their relentless work ethic and expertise to assist us in assembling the large, complicated parts of the machinery. We genuinely wouldn’t have progressed as well as we did without their efforts.

Due to their efforts I have advised my Direct Superior (Head of Projects) to consider this particular team of operatives to assist us in future projects.

This team, in my opinion is a great example of a brilliant lifting crew and an asset to your business.”

We’ll be back next month with another update, but until then you can follow us on Twitter, FaceBook,  LinkedIn and YouTube for more regular news from our team.
