Interim Storage of Injection Moulding Machines

interim storage of injection moulding machines as part of production restructure.

Company Profile: Robinson Plc is a leading provider of innovative custom moulded plastic and rigid paperboard packaging.

Project Outline:
Merritts machinery movers were tasked with the interim storage of injection moulding machines as part of production restructure.

Project Details

The restructuring project necessitated a phased relocation of production machinery comprising:

Disposal of redundant machinery: Following disconnection of services and draining of drum oils, Merritts were required to remove machines from site and transport to a ferrous waste recycling site.

Internal re-positioning of machinery: Machine moves were scheduled and executed through a process of jacking and skating to avoid any disruption to ongoing production. Particular challenges included a tight working environment and steep internal ramps within the factory.

Transportation of machines to other sites: Machines destined for other Robinson facilities in Nottinghamshire were disconnected, dismantled and removed from the production areas. Lorry mounted crane and Versa-Lift truck were used to load the machinery onto Merritts’ transport. A combination of low loaders and euroliners were utilised in this scenario.

Interim Storage: To enable well-timed integration of machinery into other sites, Merritts provided a short-term storage facility within its HMRC approved secure warehouse.
