We ensure the correct systems are in place to recognise the risk of accidents to all persons concerned and implement the appropriate safety measures to provide the safest possible working environment. Full risk assessments are carried out and detailed method statements are provided for every project.
All of our equipment is tested at regular intervals and fully certificated. All PPE, lifting equipment, tackle, trailers & tractor units that we use meet industry safety standards and regulations which includes PUWER (Provision and Uses of Work Equipment Regulations) and LOLER (Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations) standards.

Merritts are keen advocates in the addressing of environmental issues and responsibilities. From the utilisation of low emission vehicles, lower CO2 and carbon efficient fuels to recycling of large scale packaging materials, Merritts are dedicated to making a positive impact where possible in the shared goal of sustainability and reduced carbon footprint. Our company is also a major supplier to the UK waste & recycling industry and we have been the subject of an external audit to ensure that our procedures and practices meet the sufficient guidelines.
Every member of the Merritts team is committed to the delivery of the best service possible. All site personnel undertake an on-going training and development program to promote multi-skilling and safe working practices, providing our customers with a cost effective and competent labour source. Our continued belief and investment in this program returns a low staff turnover and a confident and dynamic team.
We regularly conduct appraisals or our working methods as well as on-going work practice and efficiency reviews for all departments within the business.
Having our own in-house training academy allows our coordinators access to the latest training methods and standards as soon as they are developed. This information is then relayed through our entire workforce ensuring we remain at the forefront within our industry for health & safety procedures and complex lifting practices. This is a great asset for Merritts and testament to our excellent accident and safety record which is essential when handling high value goods
